Apps: Financial Education – Green Streets

GreenstreetsOur society programs us to be spendthrift. We are encourage to squander our money on frivolous items on a whim or fancy. Never has financial education for our children been more important than today where even children are bombarded with advertising tailor-made for their eyes and ears. So we are constantly on the lookout for financial education games and programs that teach our children financial literacy. With a subject as important as this, I believe that the more fun and engaging we can make the program, the better.

GreenStreets Commons Inc offers two free apps that aim to achieve this:

What we like about it…

GreenStreets covers all the important aspect of financial literacy in a fun and engaging manner that is easily understood by young children. The visual representations communicate the important key concepts, such as saving, giving to charity and allocating money for spending.

But when it comes to how good a program really is, it matters less what I think but what my son thinks. It doesn’t matter how good a program can be if he won’t use it. So what’s the verdict from Aristotle? He loves GreenStreets and that’s good enough for me.
