Ever since we started Right Brain Education, I have been looking for a Linking Memory app. So far, I haven’t seen any to replicate the activity that is done in class. Most of the apps I have come across that teach the concept of linking memory have not been found to be satisfactory by my expectations. This is the best app I have seen so far for linking memory practice: Mimir Art of Memory by Snarp.
About Mimir Art of Memory
Mimir Art of Memory has two main parts. The first part provides information on various memorisation techniques. The methods covered are:
- The Link System
- The Link System: Memorizing Lists
- The Peg System
- The Loci System
- Names and Faces
- The Major System
- Memorize Long Numbers
- Learn Foreign Vocabulary
- Memorize Playing Cards
The second part of the app (which is the best part!) is the practice section where you can put into practice the memorisation methods taught in the first section. Here are some of the activities covered…
Memorise object connections and answer a series of questions to identify which objects are linked together.
Memorise a list of objects and select the objects in the correct order from a selection of random objects.
Memorise names and faces.
Memorise the order of a deck of cards.
These are the practice exercises offered by this app:
- Object links – this is a good prelude to linking memory
- Object lists – this is probably as close as you’re going to get to a right brain education linking memory app
- Names and faces
- Major system
- Long numbers – you can also practice number memory!
- Playing Cards
