Apps: More Brain Training Games – Pit Droids

Ever since he discovered Star Wars through the Angry Birds Star Wars app, Aristotle has gone nuts over all things Star Wars related. He even made his own Darth Maul light saber and there has been a distinct shift in focus of his random scribbling towards scenes from Star Wars. While looking for new apps on the iPad one day, he stumbled upon Pit Droids by Lucas Arts. I was initially reluctant to get it for him, thinking it was just another meaningless “shoot it” game. He finally convinced me when he was able to show me it was a puzzle game rather than an arcade game.

What is Pit Droids?

Star Wars App

“While young Anakin Skywalker races to fame on the surface of Tatooine, the pit droids are running amok behind the scenes! Help Watto, the Toydarian junk dealer, corral his droids as they march mindlessly into danger throughout 95 challenging levels in a galaxy far, far away.”

Pit Droids Game

Aim of the game: you have to place coloured-directional arrows around the course to help guide the mixed-up pit droids to their respective exits. There is more than one way to complete the obstacle course and, depending on the path you choose, some paths are shorter and more direct than others. You get bonus points for discovering the shortest and most direct route to the exit. As the game difficulty increases, you will have droids of different colours needing to exit through their own colour exit. The droid can only walk in one direction, but they will change direction if you place an arrow pointing towards a different direction. Coloured arrows means only the droids of the same colour will be affected by the change in direction.

Pit Droids is another brain-teasing, brain training app suitable for children and adults alike. It costs only $1.99 at the iTunes app store.
