Speech & Drama Holiday Bootcamp

  • Age: 7-12 years old

About the Bootcamp:

Help your child gain confidence and learn creative self-expression with The Actors Studio Academy @ klpac presents Speech and Drama Holiday Bootcamp 2016!

Kids will be engaged in theatre games, role playing and a workshop performance. These activities stimulate creative and intuitive thinking, and develop public speaking confidence, performance and enhance overall critical thinking.

Public Speaking Workshop: Speak Up! Kids (Poetry Based)

  • Age: 13-18 years old
  • Intake: 5 Dec – 9 Dec 2016
  • Time: 10am 12:30pm

About this workshop:

Poetry is the foundation for developing language, it inspires wonder and curiosity, and helps people, especially children, to make sense of an often very confusing world. If your child has a love and flair for writing, and enjoys performing and being creative, then Poetry Cafe KL is the place to be. This workshop helps to nurture and develop your child’s writing and imagination through the magical world of poetry.

Poetry Café KL is a platform for poetry and storytelling events, workshops and a collective of global poets and international exchanges. They strongly believe in the importance and impact of poetry, literature and drama in education and overall social development. The School of Poetry has been teaching and training in schools and organisations in Malaysia and Singapore for over six years and is the only organisation in Malaysia that focuses on and uses poetry in education. The teacher-trainers are experienced poetry and drama educators, professional performers and published poets from Malaysia and around the world.

Hip Hop Dance Workshop (Beginners)

About Hip Hop Dancing:

An urban ethnic dance form that has gained popularity in recent times, Hip Hop Dance is an ideal way to express your creativity. This workshop will teach you the safe and correct technique of breaking, popping, locking and free styling in hip hop dances. Come and try it yourself!

The course is conducted by Jes, a very passionate dancer who has traveled around several countries in Asia to learn the art and the correct technique of hip hop dancing. She also choreographs for events and shows and was attached to several fitness centres as a facilitator for their fitness programme.

Contemporary Dance Workshop for Kids

  • Age: 8-15 years old
  • Dates: 5 Dec – 8 Dec 2016
  • Time: 2pm – 3:30pm

About Contemporary Dance:

Contemporary dance is a style of free form dance that helps dancers acquire a series of versatile dance techniques. The systems and methods used are usually found in modern dance, post-modern dance, and classical ballet. This basic beginner’s workshop is suitable for those interested in learning the art of contemporary dance and will combine both western and eastern techniques of movements, expressions and dance styles.

The class is conducted by Tunku Kurshiah (Atiah), a graduate from LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore. Atiah started dancing at the age of 3 years old at Mangkunegaran Palace, Solo City, Indonesia. She took up ballet the age of 8 years old, and completed RAD grade 1-8.

Colourful World of Children

  • Age: 5-12 years old
  • Dates: 12 Dec – 16 Dec 2016
  • Time: 11am – 12pm

About this course:

“Colourful World Of Children” exposes children to fun, play and learning through colours. Exercises and programmes are created to identify, enhance talents and imaginations.

Course Outline:

  • Day 1 – Shaping colourful balloon into animals or flowers
  • Day 2 – Colour Mandala with crayola makers and colour pencils
  • Day 3- Creative colourful Face Painting e.g. The butterfly & Spiderman
  • Day 4- Colour Mixing Making a Hand Print and finger painting colour wheels
  • Day 5 – Colours of the rainbow with Play Doh fun and creative
