Science Friday is a cool science website which I included on my great educational websites list post from a few days back. It is basically a science resource site with loads of audio and video recordings on all sorts of cool science stuff. The reason why I decided it needed its own dedicated post was because I think this is a really great site for homeschoolers looking for science material.
Science Friday videos are created by the New York Hall of Science and offers a series of lesson plans if you’re looking for a bit of help to teach your child science. You can also skip over to the New York Hall of Science where you can:
Don’t forget to pay a visit to Sciplay where your kids can play to learn with:
- sciplay activities you can follow their lesson plans with your child
- early sciplayground – the next time you’re out and about with the kids, think about implementing some of these activities to help teach children about science in their everyday life
I was particularly interested in the last part since I’ve been thinking a lot about giving the kids more outdoor experiences to balance their school and home activities.
Don’t forget to check out TryScience where you can try out experiments, and go on field trips (this is linked to 400 science centers around the world).
And last, but not least, Science Friday offers:
- a newsletter you can sign up for to get a headsup for their new recordings and other science stuff.
- an app for android and iOS (and it’s free)
