As a parent of a selective eater, I’m always on the lookout for “healthy snacks” packed full of goodness yet tasty enough to entice the taste buds of a fussy toddler. Where we live, it isn’t easy to find “healthy” snacks for kids on the supermarket shelves. Often the best option is to resort to the good ol’ fashion DIY solution.
When it comes to DIY in the kitchen, there are a lot of benefits to having a chef for a SIL – especially one who likes to experiment with recipes. Childhood nutrition is one of the areas of her interest and she’s always looking for new ways to reinvent recipes with a healthy twist. Here’s a great healthy snack idea she recently came up with in the kitchen:
They’re called Chocolate Cereal Clusters. They contain nuts, dried fruit and shredded wheat and you can find the recipe on her blog (just click the link above). They also contain chocolate, but as you’ll read on her blog, she’s also discovered a non-dairy alternative for this.
