Here’s a true story (names have been altered to protect the identity of the real people) and a great reason why I should be glad that my second child is a boy. Okay, there might have been some embellishments on my part but the story is essentially correct.
A brother – let’s call him Cain – says to his younger sister – let’s call her Leigh: When Dad asks you what you want for your birthday, you want Transformers, okay?
Father: Sweatheart, what would you like for your birthday?
Leigh: Transformers!
Father: (frowns) Are you sure?
Leigh: Yes! I want Transformers! I want Transformers!
Father: Okay, well, which one do you want?
Cain: (whispers) Ask for Megatron!
Leigh: I want Megatron!
Father: Are you sure?
Leigh: Yes, yes! I want Megatron!
A little later, back at the home, Leigh looks doubtfully at her Megatron. Cain grabs Megatron from her little hands.
Cain: Here! This is how you play with it!
