With Gavin having rolled off the bed three times already and Gareth starting to gain more movement, I have been pondering over new sleeping arrangements that would keep everyone safe and happy. Then we stumbled upon the solution by accident…
Recently, hubby and I were at Robinson’s looking for Chinese New Year clothes for the boys when I discovered they were selling Thomas and Friends bedding. Since I still had vouchers to use and we didn’t find any clothes we wanted to get, I bought the Single Thomas bedsheet set for Gavin.
Yesterday, we dressed the mattress on the floor with the new Thomas sheets and this was the effect it had on Gavin:
Immediately after he spotted the new sheets on the mattress, Gavin said, “Mummy, this is my bed because it has Thomas on it.” At dinner, Gavin said he was tired and needed to go to sleep after dinner (note to all new readers: Gavin never says he wants to go sleep).
Daddy had the following conversation with Gavin about the Thomas mattress:
Daddy: The mattress is my bed. You sleep on the bed with Mummy and Titi.
Gavin: No, Daddy. It’s my bed because it’s got Thomas on it.
Daddy: If you sleep on the floor, then you can’t have nen nen (breast milk) any more. Is that okay?
Gavin: Yes! If I sleep on Thomas bed, I won’t have nen nen any more.
Last night, he went to sleep on his Thomas bed without nursing. Now I’m thinking we should buy more Thomas sheets…
