In the Shichida home practice guide, there is a relaxation exercise called the “energy balls” which you are required to do with your child before beginning the home practice activities. Although the manual mentions the exercise, there is no information on how it is done. I have also heard that they do the energy ball exercise in class, but until recently, I didn’t know how it was done. Then I stumbled across the following two Youtube videos which show two mothers doing the energy ball exercise with their children. The idea behind the energy ball exercise is to gather good energy and bring it into the body and at the same time remove bad energy. I think the videos show what you’re supposed to do pretty well so I’ll leave you to watch it.

look and sound superstitious. Probably it’s a trick to get baby interested

The energy ball exercise is supposed to be a relaxation activity to prepare your child for the program. Gavin was watching the video over my shoulder and wanted to do it. He really enjoyed it and thought it was funny when he had to “eat” the energy ball. In terms of relaxation, I’d say it achieved its purpose. He rarely wants to participate in new things so I was quite surprised that he wanted to do this.

Hi Vanichezhiyan,
My son enjoyed this as well. I’m not sure if he was more relaxed either, but he was happy and appeared to be enjoying himself. Perhaps that is what it is supposed to achieve. Regarding HSP for babies, you can start with simple games like some of these games they play in Heguru:
1. Find the yellow card.
Sensei shows two cards of an object in two colours. E.g. A blue shoe and a yellow shoe. She places the cards face down and shuffles them. With the cards still face down, the babies are required to touch the card that they believe to be the yellow shoe.
2. Which card do I have?
Sensei shows the children a board with four images on it. She shuffles four cards with the same images and takes one. Then she asks the children, which card does Sensei have? The children need to point to the picture on the board that corresponds to the image on the card sensei has selected at random.
You can do variations from these games with babies where the answer requires your baby to choose the right card.

HI Shen Li
I am very impressed with all your knowledge on right brain education. I have been reading your blog for years.
I am from India and we dont have any right brain schools here. I am working on setting up schools here which can work on right brain as i really believe in it.
I am looking for some guidance about how they use the 50 minutes in the heguru class.
