For his first trial of fencing, I took Gavin to Z-Fencing in Bangsar Shopping Complex. They offer 15 minute trial lessons for free and accept children as young as 4 years old. I didn’t get to observe much of what was happening because Gareth was tired so I took him out to nurse. From what little I could observe, it looked like a lot of theory and very little application. Then again it was only 15 minutes. Not surprisingly, Gavin wasn’t at all interested and it was possibly one of the first classes he rejected outright. Maybe I should have prepared him a little better before we went and showed him what exactly the sport of fencing is about.
When we came home, I looked up some fencing videos on Youtube and he was mildly interested in what was going on but he grew weary of it rather quickly and moved on to other things before the video was over. Perhaps fencing is better suited to an older child or one who has watched and understood “Zorro” (see the classic scene from the old version of Zorro).
Anyway, here are the details if you’re interested to send your child for a trial class:

Mom of the Year ?
What do the others think ?
Shen-Li says
*blush* why thank you Raymond but I think every mother just wants the best for her children and does the best that she can. I am lucky to be able to stay home with my children. I cannot imagine if I had to work as well…
