The term Neuroplasticity is derived from the root words Neuron and Plastic. A neuron refers to the nerve cells in our brain. Each individual neural cell is made up of an axon, dendrites, and is linked to one another by a small space called the synapses. The word plastic means to mold, sculpt, or modify. Neuroplasticity refers to the potential that the brain has to reorganize by creating new neural pathways to adapt, as it needs. – What is Neuroplasticity?
It used to be believed that intelligence was fixed at birth. What you were born with is how smart you’ll ever be. The of works of neuroscientists like Paul Bach-y-Rita, Edward Taub, and Michael Merzenich on neuroplasticity changed all that. If we can re-wire our brains to “see with our tongues” and completely rehabilitate physical impairements, imagine the potentials that can be reached to help children improve their cognitive skills so they can think faster, learn more quickly and remember more. Children with learning difficulties can address areas of weaknesses that are causing them to lag behind their peers.

myBrainLab is the latest brain development center in Malaysia. They are the first in Malaysia to offer the brain training program – BrainRx – originally designed in the US by Dr Ken Gibson to help children with learning difficulties. BrainRx applies the principles of neuroplasticity to train the brain so that, like a muscle that gets stronger with use, it can overcome any learning weaknesses. myBrainLab offers your brain what a personal trainer can help you do for your body.
myBrainLab is unique in that it is the first brain development center in Malaysia to offer one-to-one brain training. Sort of like a boot camp, BrainRx offer courses that runs for a fixed period of time so your child is not required to attend classes indefinitely.

Anyone 6 years and over.
Children who are having trouble keeping up at school usually have areas of weakness in their cognitive development that can result in them falling behind their peers. These weaknesses can be overcome with the BrainRx program. The BrainRx program begins with an assessment to identify these areas of weakness that require attention. Your child’s brain trainer will then tailor an individualised program to help develop those areas.
Although the BrainRx program was originally developed for children with learning difficulties, it can also benefit “smart” children because even smart children can have areas of weaknesses in their learning. The problem with smart children is that they usually have strong areas that can mask their weaknesses – for instance, a phenomenal memory that they can employ to help them rote learn information they don’t really understand. Because of this, their problem areas usually go unnoticed because they appear to be coping well at school. Smart children have a tendency to rely on their strengths and ignore their weaknesses. This becomes a catch 22 because the only way to improve on a weakness is to keep training that area. Getting your child assessed will help you identify any problem areas that are being missed.
